ParentChild+ is a national literacy program that MEAC partners with to provide children within our community early literacy skills before they enter preschool.

The ParentChild+ program is designed for children as young as 16 months and up to 4 years old to make sure they are ready for preschool and beyond.
MEAC has a team of early learning specialist that work with children and their parents in their home or with home based childcare provides to provide lessons that support healthy development and build social-emotional, cognitive and early literacy skills through reading, conversations and play.
1 on 1
If participating in the 1 on 1 or 1 on family program a MEAC early childhood specialist will come visit your home (or mutually agreed upon location) and work with the parent and child to develop a variety of skills to get the child(ren) to get ready to say goodbye to parents for the first time. Each child/family is given free developmentally appropriate books and toys to assist with the program that is worked through over the child's time in the program. Parents are integral to the success of the program and are involved throughout every step with input on the direction of the activities and learnings.
Homebased child care program
If you're a home based child care provider or a parent of a child in a home based child care program an early literacy specialist will visit the classroom on a regular basis over the course of 8 months to work with all of the children in the classroom. Early literacy specialists will work with any children they have from birth to 3-4 years of age.
Participants will receive a library of high quality books as well as educational toys and curricular guide sheets with tips on vocabulary building, engaging conversation and skill development.
This is all so important because children have on average 1,800 days from birth to the start of kindergarten. This makes each day critical to their school readiness and success. Together we are inspired by the thought that , the more we work now to level the playing field, the closer we get to an equitable future for all children.
